Children and Young People’s DFV Counselling

Our specialist domestic violence counselling services for children and young people aim to provide a safe, empathic and trusting relationship that facilitates growth and healing.  Our Child & Young People’s DFV Counselling services are available for children and young people aged between 5 and 17 years of age.

Child-Centred Play Therapy is used when working alongside children from 5-10 years of age. This approach provides the child with the freedom to express and communicate difficult emotions and supports children’s healing through creative means.

For young people from 11-17 years of age, we support them in identifying and expressing painful emotions such as fear, guilt and anger. Our counselling services empower young people and promote healthy interpersonal relationships, positive self-esteem and resilience.

For all Child and Young Person Counselling referrals a meeting will be facilitated with the Counsellor and parent to better understand the needs and supports for the child or young person before commencing counselling.
